Friendships: How Tenable Are They In Adulthood?
My Boss posted the tweet below on instagram a while ago and it sorta resonated with me.
It also got me wondering about; how plausible friendships are in adulthood.
We’re all, as my boss put it, “busy chasing our dreams” that we most times have no time for any other thing; friendships included.
I’ll use myself as an example! I, naturally, am a very busy person. Even when I have nothing to do I feign that “busy” state and maybe take a nap or binge watch on series (technically that’s something to do).
That’s actually time I can spend socialising or having a great time with friends. But I have had a lot of awful experiences with friends that I honestly don’t bother anymore. I have a very close knit circle and I’m most times satisfied with them till a friend from way back, an acquaintance or a former colleague shows up and makes me feel terrible for not catching up.
Why do we do that?
How do we do it?
How do we become so busy that we forget about individuals that once played vital roles in our lives?
Earlier this year, I decided to have lunch or dinner with each of my friends at least once in two months and let’s just say, I’ve tried with one or two friends but I just haven’t gotten around to being a success at it.
Work gets in the way most times, even life itself gets in the way.
But we have to at least try.
Work won’t give you that divine satisfaction or joy, relationships and friendships will.
So yeah, this post is for myself and for you guys!
Let’s endeavour to make the best of all our relationships, create and enjoy great moments.
So I’ll end this post with this line from my boss;
“All we have at the end of the day are our family and friends. .. And contrary to what you may think, they won’t always be there”!
Lots of love!
